Minimal Mac

I found this very beautiful website minimalmac.com which shows many minimalist Apple computers and desktops.

Inspiration to make my desktop (both physical desk and OS's desktop) less cluttered :)

Compassvale View Open

The barricades for part of Compassvale View flat were taken down. And here are some causal snapshots I took when I went to buy lunch.

I saw quite a number of renovation contractors hanging around the carpark areas.

Vari Nice coffee shop

Went to eat steamed grouper at Vari Nice coffee shop.

Found that 4 stalls were out of business namely the mixed vegetable rice, chicken rice, noodle and the fried bee hoon stalls.

Vari Nice coffee shop is very convenient to us. Hope that more good stalls can come soon!

Got from forum about Facebook Easter Egg

"Try this while you're on Facebook: On your keyboard, press UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A, ENTER and then scroll up OR down, then type anything on the comment boxes.... You will see something amazing. Refresh/reload to get rid of it."

You will see the circles across the browser. I did it on Firefox on Mac OS X.

Compassvale View and Compassvale Beacon Progress

It had been more than a month since I took photos of the Compassvale View and Beacon flats progress.

Check it out, the Beacon's flats are very high now!

One block of Compassvale View flats is done and the park around it is completed.

Roads are constructed too. The handicapped parking lot is also almost completed.

Ice Cream

Tried this ice cream at MOF!

HP Compaq's 21-inch Multitouch L2105tm Monitor

I have been waiting for a multi-touch monitor for very long. This HP monitor is designed for Windows 7. I wonder if it will work with Mac OS X? And this monitor is not expensive.

If can work with OS X (meaning, can use the multi-touch gestures), I will get it! :)

Windows 7 launches today

I got this "Wow" tissue when Windows Vista launched few years ago. Wonder if Windows 7 will be flop or success? :P

Even though Windows 7 may have resolved the speed laggy issue of Windows XP and Vista, I am not going back Windows as the GUI simply too inconvenient to use.

Apple new Multi-Touch Magic Mouse

This new multi-touch Magic Mouse is beautiful!

The multi-touch is the same as the one in iPhone, meaning it will be responsive, accurate and nice to use! :)

Since it only runs on Leopard and Snow Leopard, Windows fanboys cannot use. LOL

This is a sure-buy! :)

New widescreen iMac, MacBook, Mac Mini

Before Windows 7 launches tomorrow, Apple launches lots of new items - new widescreen 21.5" and 27" iMac, redesign low entry MacBook and boosts Mac Mini spec. :)

The Uninvited Movie

I rented The Uninvited horror movie from Play! kiosk.

The DVD cover didn't show who actress was so it was a pleasant surprise that Emily Browning was in the show!

Can't remember who she is? She is Violet in A Series of Unfortunate Events. She is one of the cutest actresses :P

Oh, the movie is nice. Not scary, but it has an unpredictable ending.

iPhone sync takes too long in iTunes

If syncrhonisation with your iPhone takes too long, there is a way to cut down the time.

It is usually the backup up process that takes too long. At the backup stage, click on the "X" to cancel backup. iTunes will proceed straight to synchronising while is usually very fast.

Multi-tasking in iPhone

One thing I dun like about iPhone is the disabled multi-tasking ability.

Hope that newer version can have multi-tasking.

These are some concept idea of multi-tasking in iPhone from Gizmodo. You can see the video demo here.

M1 brings in iPhone

If this happens earlier, I would have upgraded my M1 line and not sign up with Singtel.

But on the other hand, I use Internet over 3G often, so I wonder how's M1 3G signal?

Look at the last paragraph, Singtel sold over 100,000 iPhones!

wikiHow Survival Knowledge

Just found this wikiHow app that contains a lot of survival knowledge such as how to do CPR, how to deliver baby when there is no help around, how to handle a dog attack, how to land a plane in emergency etc.

But in a real emergency, do I have time to read the instructions? (by the way, the instructions are very detailed and idiot-proof)

iPhone OS 3.1.2

Just updated to iPhone OS to 3.1.2.

Some of the bug fixes are below. But I've never encountered them in the first place in 3.1.

"This update contains bug fixes and improvements, including the following:

- Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not wake from sleep
- Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart
- Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming"

I also found that I underutilised the 16GB storage as I use it as a mobile internet device mostly.

I found this app that stream classical pieces. Though I was in the north-east line tunnel, the streaming was smooth. My is the free lite version, I think the paid version will stream the entire piece.

More Blogging

I have been blogging increasingly since I started in 2006.

Year 2009 is not over and I have clocked more posts than the entire 2008.

If, by God's grace, I'm still alive, I should target to hit 300 posts in 2010 and 400 posts in 2011?

Watching DVDs

I watched 4 rented DVDs this weekend!

The Slumdog Millionaire is the best. Good script. Touching, meaningful and well thought-out storyline and nice music! Follows by Bolt.

The last 2 were average movies - 風雲決 (The 風雲 cartoon) and The Unborn (a horror show about דיבוק) which got Jewish exorcism. LOL

SPCA World Animal Day 2009

Today we went to SPCA World Animal Day 2009. After the Circle Line was opened, going to SPCA is very easy as it's besides the Bartley MRT station. But SPCA will move in 2012 to somewhere in Lim Chu Kang I think.

Look at this cute baby dog sleeping below.

Look at the how the dog chewed its black basin behind it.

Look like a labrador retriever.

Cat's paw!

Recently, I downloaded this iSeismo iPhone app. Just now, I happened to see the news that another powerful earthquake struck Indonesia. I believe if it struck here, the pain will be beyond what I can bear. Really felt painful looking at the news.
