Snow Leopard new Exposé feature

One of my favourite OS X features is Exposé. I find that this application switching way is much easier than Windows.

And Snow Leopard has improved it.

Originally when you do Exposé, all the windows are shown. Let's say you only want to switch between windows of Firefox, there is an easier way to do than the previous methods.

In Exposé mode, use mouse (right mouse button) click and hold on to Firefox icon.

Only Firefox windows will be shown.

Compassvale View goes green

An obvious new colour has been added to the Compassvale View construction.

Looking at the bare ground, the green grass definitely makes the estate livelier!

The centre of the pic shows some trees are still in the containers, waiting to be planted.

The block number (in orange) is also there.

Snow Leopard Review

Today is Snow Leopard launch and I just received a copy.

This is my short experience:
  • The installation is fast and smooth and idiot-proof.
  • Now the computer runs much faster -- Finder is significantly faster, program loading is faster.
  • Visually, not much different.
  • Really freed up about 6GB of disk space after installation.
  • Rosetta is not installed by default. So my Photoshop CS2 cannot run. Upon loading Photoshop, OS X prompted me to install Rosetta. After that Photoshop runs smoothly. Neither lag or improvement in speed for PowerPC app.
  • I didn't do a fresh install and no re-format, everything (configs, settings etc) stays intact.
A very satisfied migration! :)

The Dead Sea Scrolls exhibition in Singapore!

The Dead Sea Scrolls exhibition is in Singapore from 27 Aug to 30 Sept 2009 at The Art House gallery (Old Parliament Lane). It's the first time it has been exhibited in Asia.

Official website: http://www.livinglegacy2009.com/eng/

The Dead Sea Scrolls were found in these holes in Qumran ( קומראן).

I took this pix when I was in Israel in 2006.

Snow Leopard is launched!

Snow Leopard is finally here on 28 Aug 2009! It's only $29. :)

Cheap and good -- it runs faster, loads faster, slimmer by 6GB! The good thing about upgrade Mac OS is no need re-install or re-format. Hee.

The scaffolding was taken down. Now you can see the new church building!

This one was taken on 14 July 2009 where it was still wrapped up.

This is the artist impression. :)

Arnold Fried Chicken at Hougang Green Shopping Mall

Today we went to eat Arnold chicken. There are only 2 outlets here, one in City Plaza and the other is in Hougang Green.

I find that the chicken in City Plaza outlet is tastier - more tender and juicer, the skins also more golden. The Hougang outlet skin is more brown and less tender.

Hungry Ghost Festival

Hungry ghost festival started already!

Marina Barrage

Today my dear went to Marina Barrage for company event!

I merged 2 photos. Because they are of 2 contrasting colours, I have to desaturate them.

2 photos merged.

The 3 hotel buildings of the upcoming casino.

Strange DHCP on my MacBook Pro

My MacBook Pro suddenly cannot connect to the Internet.

My IP address is usually the local 192.168.x.x one. But today, it kept on changing to this 169.254.32.59.

Has my system been compromised?

MacBook Pro repaired and cleaned

My MacBook Pro is repaired. Since I never (and never will) buy extended AppleCare warranty, I thought I have to pay the $100 service charge plus the mainboard.

However, it was diagnosed that it was the Nvidia chip problem and I don't need to pay for the mainboard and even the $100 service charge is waived! :)

I was surprised that the problem surface only after so many years of usage....

Other than fixing the motherboard, it seemed that the notebook had a good cleaning! I remembered it had many stains on the cover and palm rest areas. It is clean now! :P

This means, I dun have excuse to buy MacBook Air anymore. LOL.

Singapore Apple Centre

After so long, my Macbook Pro finally kaput! (Got excuse to get MacBook Air? :P )

First time went to Apple Centre at Ang Mo Kio. Found out it is actually very near my house in Sengkang! It took me only around 25 minutes via one straight bus 163 with only 91 cents!

Left the notebook in ICU for diagnosis...

Download Chrome 4.0 for Mac

I just downloaded Chrome 4.0 for Mac. But something is strange. The title is "Chromium" while the titlebar one in the review is "Chrome". Have I downloaded the real beta or is it a trojan?

I can't find it in the google website. My version is 4.0.202.0 (202.0). Hmmm...

Arnold's Chicken at Hougang

My favourite Arnold's Chicken is opened at Hougang! There is only 1 branch at City Plaza near Paya Lebar MRT which is far. So happy!

Review: the meat is tender, skin is crispy! I prefer it anytime over KFC.

Punggol Park

It has been a long time since I went to Punggol Park with my Nikon D40 dSLR. :)
Took a few simple photos...

2 rocks with sunset in the background

Sunset reflection in the pond

Sunset reflection with long grasses in foreground

Another sunset framed using the 2 trees. Somehow the photo not nice leh.

A cute dog I saw walking with its owners at the jogging track.

Rocks leading your eyes up to the jogger in the far end.

People relaxing near the pond with nice reflections seen on the water.

Soccer. I think background too messy...

Trying to frame with tree trunk with lens not wide enough. LOL.

People having a good time at the pond. I love the S-shape. Too bad sky is white.

Nice reflection. Like overseas' mirror lake?

Couple under a tree. I like this framing.

Mirror pond again :)

Nice bare trees by the pond.
